Born the third oldest and first girl in the family, Suzie had difficulty making friends. She preferred to follow her brothers around and partake in tomboyish activities. When the devastating news of Bucky's capture and supposed death, Suzie remained optimistic about his survival. After the tragic death of Travis and her mother, Suzie fell into despair. She later disguised herself as a man using her deceased cousin's name to join the United States Army in the hopes of finding Bucky and seeking revenge on those who shot up her church.

While in the 358th Infantry Regiment, Suzie quickly realized she was in over her head. With the help of Alice, a nurse whose uncle worked at the basic training camp, Suzie went through basic training uncontested. She fought bravely despite having a flashback to Travis's death during her first battle. She traveled across Europe and by pure coincidence, ran into Bucky and Steve, now Captain America. They fought together until Bucky had to leave, and then later supposedly perished in the Alps.

Once again feeling overwhelmed and alone, Suzie and a group of other soldiers got lost on a scouting mission and ran into a Russian-occupied barn. Much to their horror and surprise, the Russians attacked the other men in the group. Suzie went to clear the barn only to find a hidden underground bunker as well as a one-armed, confused yet alive, and mentally not-at-all-there Bucky. Together, with the help of an army friend, Richard, they escaped only to discover Hydra wanted Bucky back. Richard managed to escape the attack because Hydra did not know he was there, leaving Bucky and Suzie to fight a group of Russian Hydra soldiers on a beach. Suzie got shot in the head, and her body was taken by the tide, never to be buried. She left behind her sister and oldest brother.
